The latest TFE competition is: to create in 28mm (or Epic or BFG) one of the characters/units/ships from an image in Visions of Heresy/Collected Visions.
I want to see the artwork come alive, ready for the tabletop!
This is therefore not for dioramas - it's to create a unit that you can field in battle! This means that the minis should be on their appropriate bases, rather than on a display base. Units that do not have rules (yet), for example Sisters of Silence, are perfectly ok, as long as they're on suitable bases.
Given that there are quite a lot of images that would be impossible to match exactly (due to the armour being highly ornate, etc) the aim is to take inspiration from the fantastic artwork - ie: theme. The prizes are for the people who have been the most inspired!!! Categories:

Most inspired group of minis
Most inspired epic mini(s)
Most inspired BFG mini(s)
Most inspired vehicle(s)
Most inspired OVERALL WINNER!
You can't win more than one category, and the prizes will be various BL HH posters (the A3 book cover ones), except for the overall winner, who will get to choose a mini from the FW Horus Heresy Character Series!
The deadline is the last day of September 2014.

Introduction to The First Expedition
Welcome to The First Expedition.
We are an online community dedicated to hobbying in the setting of the Horus Heresy. Our forum can be found at: www.thefirstexpedition.com
Our name refers to the first exploratory fleet to embark on the Great Crusade, after the end of the Unification Wars. As the first Crusade fleet, the Emperor himself would have accompanied it for a time, before any Primarchs were discovered.
As the longest Crusading fleet, by the outbreak of the Heresy the fleet could also be one of the furthest from Terra. With a mix of the original Terran veteran Legionaries, and more recent reinforcements, who knows what loyalties the Legions present will have when they hear of the Heresy...?
